Peaceful schooling fish for the community aquarium with soft and acid water. The aquarium should be planted densely and the light should be dimmed. When the light is too bright they get shy and pale. A peat filter is recommendable. You should give them small live food. Dry food is accepted as well. Breeding is not easy. The water should be soft and acid (Ph < 6 and Gh < 3). At a temperature of 28°C (82°F) and a dimmed light, the eggs are laid and fertilized. After spawning the parents should be removed. When the young fishes are swimming free you can raise them with very fine infusoria and later with Artemia-nauplii. A regularly changing of the water is necessary.

Hyphessobrycon Tetra is species of small freshwater fish from Africa, Central America and South America belonging to the biological family Characidae and to its former subfamilies Alestiidae (the “African tetras”) and Lebiasinidae. The Characidae are distinguished from other fish by the presence of a small adipose fin between the dorsal fin and caudal fin. Many of these, such as the neon tetra (Paracheirodon innesi), are brightly colored and easy to keep in captivity. Consequently, they are extremely popular for home aquaria From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
