In their Natural Habitat, Cynotilapia zebroides are found in the deeper to intermediate rocky regions and open waters of the lake. They are also known by tropical fish keeping enthusiasts as Orange back Mozambique, Edwardi afra, Orange Backs, or Microchromis zebroids “Cobue”.
